Striking steelworkers have postponed a vote on a contract with Titan Tire Corp. because of questions about insurance coverage in the tentative agreement.

Steelworkers at the company’s Des Moines plant have been on strike since May 1, 1998. John Peno, president of United Steelworkers Local 164, said the questions are about contract language covering health insurance for surviving spouses of retirees. He said the union and the company were exchanging information about the language.

The Des Moines plant is being operated by about 400 replacement workers.
