Determination Plus and Incredible Tillie were in the limelight Saturday when Balmoral Park presented the Super Night XIII championship races for Illinois-bred standardbreds.
Determination Plus extended her winning streak to nine races with a two-length triumph in the $160,000 Grandma Ann for 3-year-old filly pacers. Incredible Tillie recorded the second Super Night victory of her career by winning the $100,000 Ann Vonian pace for fillies and mares by 5 1/2 lengths.
– Fearful of a flight delay or cancellation because of heightened security at airports, Churchill Downs-based jockey Craig Perret drove from Louisville to ride Snow Dance in Arlington Park’s Grade III $150,000 Pucker Up Stakes.
Perret said he had “a good trip” in his car and an even better trip on Arlington’s grass course after steering the 9-10 favorite to a 1 3/4-length victory.
The winner of the 1 1/8-mile race is owned by John Oxley and trained by John Ward. The owner and trainer had teamed up to win the Kentucky Derby in May with Monarchos.
