Police are investigating several unrelated incidents that left three men dead this weekend, including a Chicago man who was killed early Saturday in a drive-by shooting.
Terry Turentine, 22, and two friends were driving west in the 400 block of East 87th Street on Saturday when a man in a car headed east opened fire, police said. Turentine was struck once in the head.
Friends drove Turentine, of the 7200 block of South Sangamon Street, to Provident Hospital. Turentine was later transferred to Cook County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:11 a.m., said a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The previous evening, a bullet grazed the head of a girl, 4, about 8:45 p.m. in the 2500 block of West Jackson Boulevard, said police spokesman Thomas Donegan. She was taken to Cook County Hospital, he said, and was discharged Saturday morning.
“The gunman apparently fired random shots in the parking lot,” Donegan said. The girl lives in the 2500 block of West Van Buren Street and was outside when she was wounded.
Police said they have no suspects in custody for either shooting.
Also Friday night, a 24-year-old man was shot to death while standing on a corner at Division Street and Keeler Avenue. A man approached Dan Menefee, of the 5100 block of West Madison Street, about 9:30 p.m. and fired several rounds before fleeing south on Keeler, Donegan said.
Menefee was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
Police were seeking a suspect described as a man between 17 and 19 years old, with short black hair, a dark complexion and dressed all in black.
An unidentified 44-year-old man also was found stabbed to death in the 8000 block of South Drexel Avenue about 11:40 p.m.
“Police responded to a call of a man down in that block,” Donegan said. “They found the victim lying on the ground with stab wounds to the stomach and chest.”
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Donegan said. Police have not identified any suspects.
