Mini Me gets a second chance at a financial windfall Saturday at Super Night at Balmoral Park.

Mini Me will try to win the $300,000 Orange & Blue and a chance at a $1 million bonus for freshman standardbreds on the showcase night for the Illinois harness set. Eight finals totaling more than $1.4 million in purses are on the 14-race program for state-breds.

After winning his first nine races, including a world-record effort of 1 minute 50 4/5 secpmds, Mini Me broke stride before the start of his 10th race, an Orange & Blue elimination Sept. 8, and finished third, beaten only 5 1/2 lengths.

Mini Me had to sweat out a draw for two spots. Of four eligible horses, he got the last starting slot.

Other Super Night favorites are Determination Plus ($160,000 Grandma Ann Pace), Vivacious Victory ($100,000 Lady Ann Reed Trot), Oneinamilliongirl ($300,000 Orange & Blue Filly Pace), Lifes a Holiday ($107,000 Su Mac Lad Trot), Incredible Tillie ($125,000 Ann Vonian Pace), Sportswolf ($125,000 Dan Patch Pace) and Rattle And Rock ($205,000 Langley Pace).

Leading Illinois standardbred earner Big Tom gets a Super Night sendoff.

Big Tom, the winner of $1,539,630, will be honored in a special retirement ceremony.
