Why tuck summer photos and keepsakes into the back of a drawer? Tuck them into a pretty, cinchy ribbon bulletin board that’ll dress up your room or locker and keep memories of good times just a glance away.
To get started, you’ll need a bulletin board; ribbons in different colors; enough fabric, wallpaper or contact paper to cover the bulletin board; tacks; and scissors. We chose a small cork board and nabbed some pastel-patterned contact paper to cover it. (To do that, we laid the bulletin board on a flat surface, traced the area we wanted to cover onto plain paper, then used that as a pattern to trace onto the contact paper. We then cut and applied the paper to the bulletin board.)
Now, grab your ribbon. Tack the end of a piece of ribbon to any corner of the bulletin board (not the frame) and pull the ribbon tight, on a diagonal, across the board. Tack it to the opposite corner. Cut off the extra ribbon. (We used decorative tacks, which we found at a discount store. You also can use plain flat tacks and leave them as is or glue fabric appliques over them.)
Next, repeat tacking and cutting ribbons diagonally in the same direction, spacing the ribbons a few inches apart from one another. Then begin tacking the ribbons diagonally in the opposite direction. Tack all spots where the ribbons intersect.
Once you’re done, slip photos, concert-ticket stubs, dried flowers and other treasures underneath the ribbons.
