Sales jobs often good choice for career changers

Sales is a popular choice for people considering a career change, industry experts say. Mark Rednick, president and founder of MRI/Sales Consultants of Dallas, says that with the right approach and preparation, career changers can successfully make the switch.

“Try to boil down the industries and markets you have a zeal for, because the one thing that can overcome a lack of experience is zeal,” said Rednik.

Cheri Butler, director of Career Management Resources, says focus on transferable skills.

“If you were coming from a customer service background, obviously building rapport and dealing with difficult people are skills that would be transferable,” she said.
