Following the birth of her first child, Texas-born singer-songwriter and critics’ darling Sara Hickman formed her own independent label to release albums for new parents. “Newborn” was first, and she has just delivered “Toddler,” a delightful collection of traditional and original songs, stories and poems.
Less than 60 seconds long, the song with the most replay potential is “Weenie Man.” Everybody: “I know a weenie man/He owns a weenie stand. Someday I’ll be his wife/His little weenie wife.”
Hickman also performs an irresistible Hebrew folk song, “Hiney Rakevet,” and tells a childhood story about how she once wet her bed. Her husband contributes a song his own father used to sing in the shower, “Muddy Hands.”
