Has it only been a little more than a year since the arrival of Buzz airline, the low-cost, Britain-based offshoot of KLM? Well, the little carrier that could continues to go from strength to strength: It’s adding four new destinations from London’s Stansted Airport, and the prices are still superbly low.

The new French destinations–both scheduled to be added around the end of March–are La Rochelle (on the underrated Atlantic coast in the southwest) and Poitiers (which opens up the Loire Valley to the budget-minded tourist).

In Spain, Buzz begins service to Murcia, located in a stark, agricultural region of the country that’s just opening up to tourism, as well as Gerona, which is within a stone’s throw of Barcelona.

Both of these cities will have service up and running by the end of March as well. And the price continues to be right for all these new destinations, as well as the old standbys: $51 buys a one-way ticket between London and either of the French cities, $78 for the Spanish ones.

In addition, there are always weekly deals on the airline’s Web site (www.buzzaway.com). You can find out more and/or book a flight either by accessing that site or by calling 011-44 870/240-7070.

GREYHOUND’S LATEST DEAL

Greyhound’s Ameripassgives you unlimited bus travel within the United States for one week for only $185. Unlimited passes of longer duration include a maximum 60-day version for $559, and also passes that fall somewhere between the two extremes in both the number of travel days and the price.

Fares for children (under 12) are 50 percent less; for seniors (over age 62), 10 percent less; and for students, 15 percent less. Rates are valid until further notice, so book when you can.

The pass is also valid for the following routes to and from Canada: New York to Montreal, New York to Toronto, Boston to Montreal, Detroit to Toronto and Seattle to Vancouver. Procedures? If you are booking online, you must do so at least 14 days before you plan to start traveling.

Otherwise, you can phone a reservations agent at 800-231-2222 or visit your local Greyhound terminal or agency for last-minute bookings. For additional information on the pass itself, click on Ameripass at www.greyhound.com or call 888-454-7277.

If you plan to explore more of Canada than just the major cities covered by the Ameripass, the new unlimited Canam Pass, sold by Amtrak’s Canadian division, lets you travel anywhere in America or Canada for 60 days for $899.

The minimum amount of travel is 15 days for $559. At only $340 more for the full 60-day pass, it’s clearly a better deal to go for the full pass if you can spare the travel time.

There are currently no reductions for children or students, though seniors (65 and older) get a 10 percent discount on fares.

For more information on Canam, visit www.greyhound.ca or phone 800-661-8747.
