Chicago playwright Jim Sherman (“Beau Jest,” “The God of Isaac”) is going to Seoul as a visiting professor at the National University of the Arts. Sherman, whose first play, “Magic Time,” recently received its Korean premiere, initially turned down the 16-week gig because he did not want to be away that long from his wife, actress Linnea Todd, and their two children, Isaac and Avery. Next thing he knew, the head of the university’s theater department said, “Bring the family.” So, Sherman has advised friends in Chicago, “We’re leaving for Korea March 2.” He will teach classes in playwriting, improvisation and developing plays for young audiences, with interpreters helping to bridge the language gap.
