We’re looking for an alternative to having guests’ coats on the bed in our master bedroom when we have parties. We’ve seen the hanging closet systems, but they look too bulky. We want something that is temporary, just for the night. Do you have any ideas?

The Container Store has several different folding valets in its closet line and we found two styles that fit your needs perfectly. One is a valet made of beech wood with a cherry finish ($199). It expands to 6 feet wide, and the beauty is it folds down to 4 to 5 inches to fit under a bed or in a closet for easy storage. There is also a brushed aluminum garment rack ($39.99) that is sturdy and stylish. It expands to create 34 to 54 inches of hanging space and its height can be adjusted.
