The Chicago Botanic Garden is offering a series of day camps this summer for children 3 to 8 who can get in touch with nature while enjoying the garden’s 385 acres.
Registration began last week for the camps, which run Monday through Friday for six weeks from June 25 through Aug. 10, excluding 4th of July week.
The themes change weekly, incorporating hands-on arts and crafts, science, gardening, nature and outdoor exploration.
Mary Shopsis, coordinator of family and youth programs, said professionals lead activities such as making musical instruments out of natural materials, painting a garden landscape or constructing an aquarium.
