We spied a slew of pastel-hued gizmos at the recent International Housewares Show at McCormick Place, just like the folks at the Color Marketing Group said we would.

Soft colors are in for 2001, according to this international group of color designers. Here are some of the colors it says we can expect to see this year:

– Amaizing: a pale yet vibrant yellow with a touch of warm red

– Astro Green: a clean, clear and soothing green

– Autumn Oak: an orange-based weathered brown

– Black Pansy: a deep, blackened blue-based purple

– Blue Too: a saturated blue

– Capri Blue: a soothing aquatic blue with tinges of yellow

– Cocobola: a chameleon color of a deep earth hue

– Copper Blush: a hue tinted with white and pink

– Glass Block: a blue-green inspired by soothing aqua

– Lavendare: a pale pastel purple

– Marrakesh Red: a soft red reminiscent of the earthy natural dyes from Morocco to India

– Orange Spice: an Asian-inspired orange

– Pink Lady: a soft and sophisticated yet strong true pink

– Pure Purple: a midrange purple that can be exciting and fun

– Sandy Egg-o: a clean and vibrant yellow

– Silver Strand Blue: a clean medium gray-blue

– Smudged Green: a warm neutral with green undertones and a trace of yellow

– Storm: the merge of mineral blues and greens

– Tuscan Clay: a tinted terra cotta with Asian influences
