“Family Day: Picturing Worlds Near and Far,” a day of drop-in activities and special programs for families takes place from 1-4 p.m, Sunday at the Smart Museum of Art, 5550 S. Greenwood Ave. Sponsored by the Smart Museum, Hyde Park Art Center and the Oriental Institute Museum, admission, activities and refreshments are free.
Families will have the opportunity to explore the museum, including the current special exhibits “Landscapes of Retrospection” and “The Theatrical Baroque,” take guided tours and participate in activities.
Activities include Asian ink painting, Egyptian-style landscape painting on papyrus and watercolor landscape painting and garden design.

Romantic and Baroque period music played by a University of Chicago student string quartet and student docent readings of myths and stories are also scheduled.
