Behind Tiffany, Jessica and Kasey Bell, Oswego won its own regional for the fifth straight year. Oswego advances to the Nequa Valley sectional on Monday night.
The Panthers hope to compete in the state meet, Feb. 16-17 at Palatine, for the fourth straight year. They will rely on the Bells after Jessica, a junior, won the all-around competition at the regional. Tiffany, a senior, finished second in the all-around, and Kasey, a freshman, took fourth place.
The Panthers went five-for-five on the balance beam, earning a 36.725 team score. Coach Lorrie Gregory said that was the first time in her 12 years that all five Oswego gymnasts stayed on the beam in a meet.
“We’re doing a lot of work on beam in practice and it shows,” Tiffany Bell said. “It is a really big goal for us to get back to the state meet.”
Naperville Central finished second in the regional with a 138.05 score and Wheaton Warrenville South took third, earning 137.625. Both teams, however, failed to earn an at-large spot in the sectional.
