America deserved much better than this mess. Two teams dueling nearly three quarters in a punt-till-you-puke contest. Kerry Collins falling off the quarterbacking wagon again. The New York Giants reverting to the Super Bowl disgrace that had been expected, then temporarily put on hold after offensive life was observed in the NFC title game.

In other words, fun-seekers of the football world Sunday night had to sort through TV commercials in search of entertainment. Say this for the XXXV edition of the NFL’s ultimate game:

Nobody was watching from the edge of a seat. Asleep on the couch would be more like that. And yes, such a negative attitude still does justice to the Baltimore Ravens, who talked an excellent game all week in Tampa, then played their brutal style of defensive game when it counted.

Just as the Ravens openly predicted–no offensive points for the Giants in this one.
