The Village Board is debating whether to spend $190,000 for a standard pedestrian/golf cart bridge over Addison Creek at the Sexton resort development, or to spend $270,000 for a bridge that duplicates one at the Bel Air Country Club in Beverly Hills.
Nugent Associates is designing the nine-hole golf course planned for the closed landfill to be a “theme course,” with each hole duplicating the topography of a hole at an internationally prestigious golf course such as St. Andrews in Scotland. Reproducing the Bel Air bridge at Sexton would continue that theme and make the course more attractive to area golfers and conventioneers, said Community Development Director Robert Glees.
Trustees agreed in principle with the architect’s reasoning, but commented on the $80,000 difference between the two designs for the 90-foot structure. Trustee Ray Basso suggested asking golf course contractors to prepare separate bids for each design. “Maybe we can save enough elsewhere in the project to make up the difference,” he said.
