A five-story, 155-room Marriott Residence Inn hotel was tentatively approved by the Oak Brook Village Board.

The board instructed its village attorney to amend three ordinances to allow the Marriott to be built at 800 Jorie Blvd., adjacent to the East-West Tollway in an office, research and assembly district. The village attorney should also approve a special-use permit.

The board plans to vote on the amendments Jan. 23.

The hotel will be on 15 acres that include two office buildings. It will share parking with those offices and build off-street parking on adjacent Nicor property.

The extended-stay hotel will have studio, one- and two-bedroom suites, two meeting rooms, a hearth room, an indoor pool with a spa, an exercise facility and a sun deck. It will have limited food service, including a breakfast buffet.

Rates will average $100 a night, and the average length of stay is expected to be 4.1 days, said Marriott attorney Robert Pugliese.

Village President Karen Bushy told the board she contacted other hotels within the village and found no objections to the proposal. Trustee Alfred Savino said the hotel will fill a void.

“It fills an apparent niche we don’t already have in hotels in Oak Brook,” Savino said.
