Ancient Chinese thinker Tsou Yen’s changing-elements theory of nature — metal, wood, water, fire and earth make up pretty much everything — didn’t account for fast-food chicken nuggets. But oversights aside, his world view remains a classic example of philosophy applied to astronomy. “The Dance of the Elements: Cosmology in Ancient Asian Thought,” a discussion led by the Illinois Math and Science Academy’s Robert Kiely, addresses Hindu, Taoist and Buddhist theories of the universe. The cosmic talk begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum, 1300 S. Lake Shore Drive. $40 ($35 for members). 312-922-7827.
