Chicagoans have long known the best way to experience the city is through forest and trees — with sweeping skyline views, and tight images of people and neighborhoods. Upcoming photo exhibits capture both: The architectural “FotoChicago: Picturing the City that Works” tracks how towering steel structures have evolved from the 19th Century to the present; and “Chicago’s South Side, 1946-1948” shows Wayne F. Miller’s black-and-white images of the Bronzeville neighborhood. “FotoChicago” continues at noon Thursday to Saturday through Feb. 3 at 730 N. Franklin (suite 200). Free. 312-475-1290. “South Side” opens at 9 a.m. daily (1 p.m. Sundays) through March 2 at Woodson Regional Library, 9525 S. Halsted St. Free. 312-745-2080.
