Lake County judge Thomas Lang dismissed a misdemeanor domestic-battery charge against Bulls guard Corey Benjamin on Wednesday, citing the refusal of the woman to return to Illinois from California, where she is now living.
The charge was filed in October after Benjamin’s then-live-in girlfriend said she was slapped at their home in Deerfield, according to Matthew Chancey, chief of felony review for the Lake County state’s attorney’s office.
Assistant State’s Atty. Fred Day told the court Wednesday that the woman said “it was not in her interest to come out here. She wanted the matter over with.”
Benjamin declined comment after Wednesday’s hearing.
