No. 8 Benet wasn’t at its best Thursday against Wheaton Warrenville South, but it was good enough.
The Red Wings (13-2) regrouped after a sluggish start and posted a 55-43 victory in the Benet/Naperville North tournament.
Jordan Wilson led the Red Wings with 13 points, which also put her over the 1,000-point mark in her career.

Wilson is just the fifth Benet player to score more than 1,000 points.
Jenny Callan added 11 and Amanda Kammes and Chandra Smith each had 10.
“We missed a lot of opportunities, we turned the ball over a few too many times and made too many mental mistakes,” Benet coach Peter Paul said. “We’re going through the motions, yet we’re good enough to beat most teams.”
In other tournament action, Rachel Karos had 17 points and seven rebounds and Ashley Rook added 13 with five assists as Naperville North (10-2) rolled past Minooka 52-37.
Nina Simotes led Minooka (5-6) with 23 points.
West Chicago improved to 13-1 as Alissa Mildebrath scored 19 points and Kathy Brinn added 12 for a 53-42 victory over York.
Anne Marcellus’ 22 points paced York (6-5).
Chicagoland Holiday Challenge: At Fenton, Debbie Schick scored 30 points as Loyola (7-6) struggled early before overwhelming Maria 52-31. Nell Murphy added 10 for Loyola.
Schick “was the main ingredient in our offense,” Loyola coach Tonya Johnson said. “After we woke up I thought we did a pretty good job on defense.”
LaNiece Thomas scored 15 points to lead Maria (1-10).
Johanna Solverson scored 24 points and grabbed 19 rebounds as Lake Zurich (6-0) cruised to a 61-47 victory over Fenton.
Lake Zurich led 35-30 in the third quarter before going on a 10-0 run to take control. Becky Adorable led Fenton (5-7) with 19.
Cassandra Stark scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds as No. 9 Neuqua Valley (14-1) had little trouble in its 50-27 victory over Providence.
Heather Mansour had 16 points and six rebounds, while Tameka Carter added 13 points and seven rebounds in Downers Grove South’s 57-54 victory over Maine South.
Trailing 41-34 after three quarters, Downers Grove South (10-1) opened the fourth with an 11-0 run. Ashley Zwiakala, who finished with 11 points, started the stretch with a three-pointer.
Downers Grove South was 23-of-26 from the free-throw line, including 12-of-14 in the fourth quarter. Maine South (10-4) received 15 points and nine rebounds from Liz Bondi.
“What helped us in the [11-0] run was when we worked the ball offensively, they had to play defense for 10 seconds or more and that wears you out,” Downers South coach Ellen O’Brien said.
Glenbard North: Oak Lawn (6-8) topped Glenbard East 49-45 as Jenny Sepessy finished with 16 points. Meghan Toppel added 14 points and Erin Anderson had 10. Glenbard East was led by Katie Mielke’s 10 points.
Mother Guerin: Bridget Bonin and Peggy Casey each scored 15 points to lead Luther North to a 61-20 rout of Notre Dame. . . . Ashley Obrest hit six three-pointers en route to a 31-point night and Margaret Gorski added 19 as Elmwood Park held off St. Scholastica 59-50.
Proviso East: Khara Smith led No. 12 Proviso West with 34 points, 21 rebounds, four steals and three blocks in a 75-43 victory over Proviso East. Claudia Wilson added 13 points and five steals, while Ashley Owens finished with 10 points for the Panthers (15-3).
Proviso West opened with 10-0 run and never trailed. Proviso East (9-7), which was led by Quanita Brown’s 10 points, cut the deficit to 44-38 early in the fourth quarter. But Proviso West manufactured a 22-2 run to put the game out of reach.
“We were able to focus and play better as a team and get away from the individual stuff,” Proviso West coach Dianna Thomas said of the fourth-quarter spurt. “We got good minutes from people on the bench and we hit on all cylinders.”
Katie King finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds as Reavis defeated Chicago Vocational 32-24. Reavis (3-10) outscored CVS 10-2 in the fourth quarter. CVS (5-10) didn’t score a field goal until the 4:45 mark of the second quarter.
Wheaton North: No. 4 Hinsdale Central (13-0) rolled to a 68-31 victory over St. Charles East behind 20 points from Morgan Kasperek and 13 from Melanie Ploger. . . . Pam Findlay scored five of her 24 points in overtime to lead Glenbrook South (10-4) to a 43-36 victory over Elgin. . . . Kory Begyhad 15 points as Lyons (8-4) tripped Willowbrook 41-32. . . . Brianne Block had 19 points and 16 rebounds to lead Hersey (7-5) past Downers North 53-42.
Hillcrest 56, Stagg 54: Sherry McCracklin scored five of her 19 points in overtime to lead No. 10 Hillcrest past No. 17 Stagg. Janelle Hughes added 17. Emily Heikes led Stagg (9-2) with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
Maine West 61, Maine East 31: Linnea O’Neill scored 27 points as No. 13 Maine West (10-3) rolled.
New Trier 68, St Igantius 63: Shana Franklin’s three-point play with 3:06 left gave No. 14 New Trier a 56-55 lead it did not relinquish. Franklin had 12 points for the Trevians (11-2).
