Deerfield police Wednesday identified a man who was struck by a mini-van and killed crossing Waukegan Road earlier this week.
John R. Damijanic, 61, of the 2800 block of South Wells Street, Chicago, was pronounced dead about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, said Police Chief Patrick Anderson.
Damijanic was attempting to cross Waukegan Road just south of Lake-Cook Road on Monday when he was struck by a 2000 Chrysler mini-van driven by a 44-year-old Highland Park woman, Anderson said.
The woman told police that she did not see Damijanic, who was walking outside a designated crosswalk, Anderson said.

“It was dark and rainy, and visibility was reduced,” he said.
Anderson said the accident remains under investigation, but the driver probably will not be ticketed.
