A Waukegan High School student and a 15-year-old are among four people who have been charged in connection with an armed robbery during which one of the robbers allegedly wore a mask similar to one used in the movie “Scream.”
The masked teenager and a man dressed in black who was armed with a semi-automatic pistol are accused of robbing a Shell gas station in the 2100 block of Green Bay Road early Monday withtwo of their friends.
At 12:40 a.m., Earl Daniels, a student at Waukegan High School, and Jason King, both 18 and both of the 2300 block of Seminole Road, Waukegan, entered the gas station and bought soda, according to Waukegan Police Capt. Don Johnson.
Shortly afterward, Bryan Rouse, 20, of the 12700 block of Blanchard Road, Beach Park, went into the store along with the 15-year-old and demanded cash from a female clerk, Johnson said. Rouse was dressed in black and brandishing a semi-automatic pistol. The teenager was wearing the mask, Johnson said.
After the clerk gave them $300 in cash, Rouse and the boy fled the store, Johnson said. Daniels and King, he said, pretended to be witnesses.

The involvement of Daniels and King was discovered after a student at Waukegan High School overheard someone talking about the crime and told police, Johnson said.
The three men were being held in the Lake County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $50,000 bail each, Johnson said. The 15-year-old, who is from Waukegan, is being held in the Depke Juvenile Detention Center in Vernon Hills.
Rouse and the boy face armed robbery charges, Johnson said. King and Daniels, the Waukegan High School student, are charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, he said.
