Midwest Physician Group has entered into a partnership with Silver Cross Hospital of Joliet to develop a 7,000-square-foot outpatient surgery center in a building at 167th Street and La Grange Road, Orland Park.
Silver Cross Hospital was approached by the physician group, which was looking for a hospital affiliation for the $2 million project, said Karen Kansfield, Silver Cross director of marketing and planning.
The hospital will invest 33 percent in the center. Physicians not associated with the group are being sought to make up 30 percent of the organization, with Midwest Physician Group making up the difference.
“We could have constructed something new from scratch, but this was the least costly and in addition to being centrally located, physicians already are located at the site,” Kansfield said.
The center will have three operating rooms and eight recovery stations. It is expected that the center will perform at least 3,300 surgeries a year.
The center is expected to be open at the end of next year. Kansfield said the center will not bear either company’s name.
