The goal of the Courtyards at Cedar Crossing was to create a townhouse community with the open feel of a single-family home subdivision.
The land plan at the 74-unit development in north suburban Lake Villa includes two ponds, woods, wetlands, nature trails and a 25-foot landscaped buffer between buildings.
Located on gently rolling terrain, the project by Gurnee-based Buschman Homes offers optional walkout or English basements in more than half of the units.
Prices range from $156,990 to $169,990 for two- or three-bedroom residences with 1,361 to 1,798 square feet. The monthly assessment is $95.
The three floor plans offer such features as first-floor master suites and lofts.
The Courtyards at Cedar Crossing is planned for 22 buildings, each with two, three or four units. Buyers can select the size of building they prefer.
“The buildings are placed for privacy so the homes don’t look at the rear of another house,” said Gary Buschman, vice president of sales and marketing.
Walkout or English basements are from $11,500 to $14,300 extra. Finishing the basements costs another $19,000.
With a finished lower level, the Brighton floor plan, for example, expands to 3,000 square feet.
The townhouse development is separated by 20 acres of woodlands from Cedar Crossing’s 310-home single-family section, where prices range from $186,990 to $261,990 for residences with from 1,670 to 2,812 square feet.
Cedar Crossing is located on Illinois Highway 83, one mile south of Illinois Highway 132.
Gurnee Mills and the Tri-State Tollway are about a 12-minute drive to the east. Two Metra commuter stations are 5 minutes away. The Chain-O’-Lakes recreation area is just to the west.
Children attend the Lake Villa elementary schools and Grayslake High School.
