A wide trip didn’t detour Rompaway Trisha from a record-setting victory in the $113,120 American National Trot for 2-year-old fillies Thursday night at Balmoral Park.
Though pressing the pace from the second path for driver Frank O’Mara, Rompaway Trisha lasted for a neck win in a track-record 1 minute 59 seconds.
The Mark O’Mara trainee secured the victory in a three-horse photo finish. Salagadoola finished second and Angela Lane was third.
In the $116,960 American National Trot for 2-year-old colts and geldings, International Chip won by 2 3/4 lengths in 1:57.

Driven by Dave Magee, International Chip set the early fraction of :28.2. He then settled back in second while Windswept Phantom set fractions for the half-mile and 3/4-mile splits. The Ron Guerfein trainee powered back in the final quarter.
