The president-elect of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association has been chosen as the new executive director of the Batavia Park District, effective July 17.
Michael G. Clark, deputy director of the Bloomingdale Park District, was chosen to replace Ralph Voris, who retired this month after 14 years as the district’s executive director.
While in Bloomingdale, Clark managed a recreation department that included a recreation center, outdoor community swimming pool and a museum. He also completed a strategic space needs assessment designed to detail the need for a new community center, water park and maintenance facility.
Before joining Bloomingdale, Clark, 35, was manager of golf operations for the River Trails Park District in Prospect Heights, facilities manager for the Glencoe Park District, and recreation supervisor for the Lombard Park District.
Clark was chosen from a field of 15 candidates. He will become IPRA president in 2001.
“The board is fortunate to make this appointment. Clark’s qualifications and experience, coupled with his enthusiasm, will move the Park District forward in implementing our master plan to serve the growing leisure needs of the community,” said Scott Luken, president of the Park District board.
