For the first time in about a year, Orland Hills has a deputy clerk.

Cheryl Turner, who is also an employee of the Building Department, received unanimous approval recently from village trustees to assume the new responsibilities. Her extra duties will include filling in for clerk Rita Sears when Sears is unable to attend board meetings and helping prepare ordinances for adoption.

Turner’s salary as deputy clerk, which will be in addition to her wages in the Building Department, will be $150 per month.

The position has been vacant since the former deputy clerk resigned, Melcher said.
