St. Charles police said Wednesday the second reported armed robbery of convenience businesses in three days could have been the work of the same man.
Police were investigating reported robberies Tuesday and Sunday in which the offender used a knife to demand money at two convenience stores.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Convenient Food Mart, 1560 E. Main St., a thin, blond man in his early to mid-20s andabout 5 feet 9 inches tall pulled his beige sweater around his face, flashed a knife and demanded money, said Police Chief Donald Shaw. The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the robber fled.
Shaw said police used the canine unit to canvass the area.
A similar incident was reported Sunday at the St. Charles Mini-Mart, 710 S. 3rd St. Around 12:35 p.m., police said, a man walked into the convenience store, displayed a knife and fled after getting money.
“The knife and the build of the offender have some similarities,” Shaw said.
