The Lake County sheriff’s office and the Illinois State Police plan to set up a roadside safety and sobriety checkpoint in Wadsworth on Friday night.
Sheriff Gary Del Re said the checkpoint is part of a continuing effort to prevent unsafe driving in Lake County.
“Operations such as these represent our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of people using the public roadways in Lake County while providing a deterrent to those who would violate [motor vehicle] statutes,” Del Re said.
Del Re said deputies and troopers will be looking for drivers who may be driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, illegally transporting open liquor, violating Illinois driver’s license laws, operating unsafe motor vehicles or violating safety belt or child passenger restraint laws.
