A guitar autographed by Paul McCartney sold for $11,000 at an auction to raise money for the Center for Enriched Living, a non-profit organization that serves people with developmental disabilities.

The annual charity auction, held last month at the Marriott O’Hare, featured 1,500 items, including autographed guitars from McCartney, Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton.

The auction netted more than $300,000 to support the center, which is set to open its first permanent home later this month in Riverwoods. The new 20,000-square-foot building was specially designed to meet the social, skill-development and recreational needs of CEL members.

With more than four times the space as the center’s previous building, the organization now has the capacity to reach more people with developmental disabilities who could benefit from itsservices.
