Jockey Ramsey Zimmerman was admitted to Northwest Community Hospital after a one-horse spill Wednesday afternoon at Arlington International Racecourse.

The 18-year-old rider was injured in the seventh race, during a three-horse stretch drive an eighth of a mile from the finish.. Zimmerman’s mount, Lost Kitten, broke down between horses and the jockey was thrown hard to the track.

Though the scene looked grim, the jockey’s early X-rays and CAT scan were negative. Further tests await review. Zimmerman was resting comfortably Wednesday night, according to a track spokesman.

Zimmerman finished among the top five jockeys in Chicago last year. The 5-foot, 3-inch, 111-pound rider won the biggest race of his career last fall when he guided Minor Wisdom to victory in the Grade III Hawthorne Derby at Hawthorne Race Course.

Lost Kitten fractured her right-front knee and was destroyed.
