A 21-year-old Kenosha woman was killed early Monday near North Chicago after a garbage truck that had been struck by another vehicle collided with her car, authorities said.

Debra Stull of the 5200 block of 58th Avenue was traveling south on Green Bay Road at 21st Street when the driver of a vehicle traveling west on 21st lost control and skidded into the rear of the garbage truck, said Lt. Fred Heidecke of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. The garbage truck then entered the intersection and struck the victim’s vehicle, Heidecke said.

The driver of the garbage truck, Jason Garcia, 28, of the 4800 block of 60th Street, Kenosha, was taken to Provena-St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan, where he was listed in critical condition.

Corey Harbison, 24, of the 2800 block of Central Avenue in Waukegan, drove the vehicle that hit the garbage truck, Heidecke said. Harbison, who was unhurt, was ticketed for failure to stop, authorities said. Toxicology tests are pending, Heidecke said.
