I saw a yellow ceramic sink that will go with my retro yellow kitchen, but I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to get it. Are new ceramic sinks made to prevent scratches and marks from use? It could be a cool look, but is it practical?

A saleswoman in kitchen products at Home Depot, 1232 W. North Ave., says ceramic sinks will show scratches and black marks from too many bangs from pots and pans. Home Depot has white ceramic sinks in stock and will special order sinks in a desired color. Their ceramic sinks cost $39 to $150, depending on the size and the manufacturer.
Stainless steel is the preferred material for a sink, but even stainless steel shows marks of age. Stainless steel sinks range from $39 to $300. Rubber mats in both types of sinks can help alleviate the problem.
You’ll have to decide which fixtures and accessories fall into which category when it comes to combining design and practical solutions in your retro kitchen.
