Time is growing short for four teenage volunteers to raise funds for a mercy mission to Honduras.
Cody Brown, Kevin Brown, Nicole Fink and Keith Fink, all members of the Fourth Street United Methodist Church of Aurora, have been working since December to earn money for a June service trip to Honduras, where they would help to rebuild homes devasted in 1998 by Hurricane Mitch.
The teens need $2,100 to cover transportation and living expenses, according to Sam Smith, assistant pastor at church. People interested in donating should call Smith at 630-897-5257.
The teens hope to join about 30 Chicago-area youth who are planning to do volunteer work June 17-29 in San Pedro Sula, north of the hard-hit Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa.
The teens also plan to hold Sunday school classes and provide recreational activities for local children.
The teens will be accompanied to Honduras by Smith and two adult church members. The project is sponsored by Wheaton-based Youth for Christ.
