The Mokena Village Board on Monday approved a new subdivision on the western end of the village.

Developer Patrick O’Gorman’s Blackthorne Ridge subdivision will have of 66 single-family homes and 6.5 acres of land for storm water management on 40 acres along Townline Road.

The average lot size will be 16,900 square feet, Community Development Director Alan Zordan said.

The development plan includes upgrades for Townline Road, including widening, adding sidewalks, landscaping and a building bicycle path, Zordan said. The original plan that called for the village to pay the developer to improve the road south to 195th Street is on hold because funds are tight, he said.

Mayor Robert Chiszar said the village still wants the road widened to 195th Street, but many road projects are coming up and financing is limited.
