Iveta Marcauskaite, an outstanding 6-foot-4-inch center who helped lead her New Jersey prep school to a state basketball title, will attend Illinois.
Peddie School coach Sean Casey said Marcauskaite, a native of Siauliai, Lithuania, whose parents now live in the Chicago area, signed a letter of intent to play for coach Theresa Grentz.
Marcauskaite averaged 16.9 points a game for the Hightstown, N.J., school, which won its fourth consecutive New Jersey Independent Schools Athletic Association Prep A title.
“She’s very strong, very athletic,” Casey said.
