Long before Charlton Heston made his stand in the 1959 “talking” version, 1920s producers were wringing their hands over numerous cast and director changes, an extra year of filming and a $4 million budget to make the original silent film version of “Ben-Hur.” The Bible-based story of Judah Ben-Hur saving his long lost family (by having white stallions drive him around really fast) became a box-office smash in 1926. It was sort of the “Titanic” of its day, minus the water, special effects, dialogue, nudity and Irish dancing. This original “Ben-Hur” screens at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pickwick Theatre, 5 S. Prospect Ave., Park Ridge. Tickets: $8 ($7 for students and seniors). 847-825-5800.
