The deadline is April 14 to apply for grants from the Lisle Community Service Corp., a non-profit organization that awards grants biannually to charitable and community organizations that provide services to Lisle residents.
The money–about $30,000 to $40,000 a year–comes from interest generated from the investment of the $300,000 upfront fees given to the village as part of its first cable franchise agreement about 20 years ago.
Qualifying groups are evaluated by their connection to the village, either by location or service, and their lack of other resources for funds, group treasurer Judy Yuill said.
The group also sets aside $4,000 each semester for high school seniors to provide $1,000 college scholarships. Two are awarded to Lisle, one to Naperville North and one to a senior at Benet Academy. The schools process the applications and determine their recipients, officials said.
