Several attractions–including a chance to throw a pie at Geneva Mayor Tom Coughlin–should draw people to an indoor community picnic Sunday, hosted by the River Park Committee.
“We’re having the picnic to increase awareness and participation by the community in the development of the park,” said Mary Zaander, president of the 15-member downtown park committee.
At the group’s urging, the city repurchased the 4-acre site several years ago from a developer. The city also provided funds for Zaander’s group to hire a landscape architect and has given a vote of confidence to the plan’s final version.
