Orland Hills Village Board members voted down two motions by a renegade colleagues this week, as a rift on the board continued to widen.

Trustee Marty McGill asked fellow trustees Wednesday to request that the village attorney investigate whether discussions involving Mayor Kyle Hastings and his allies on the board–regarding the proposed annexation of land between 175th and 178th Streets along La Grange Road–violated the state’s Open Meetings Act.

McGill said the meetings excluded himself and Trustee Don Bigos, political enemies of Hastings. “The residents of Orland Hills elected Don and myself just like everyone else on this board,” McGill said.

McGill also sought censure for Trustee Dave Diggs, who McGill said was quoted in a newspaper article as saying that McGill and Bigos could not be trusted.
