The Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners captured two top prizes at the Chicago Flower & Garden Show, which continues through Sunday at Navy Pier.

The club’s “Garden of the Great Spirit” exhibit received the Governor’s Award for best overall garden display and the Land of Lincoln Award for best use of indigenous plants in a landscape. The 2,600-square-foot exhibit depicts a Native American summer encampment along the Fox River circa 1600.

More than 50 members of the Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners were involved in planning and planting the display, organizers said. Plants used in the landscape were grown at home by club members or donated by local nurseries.
