Another round of roadwork included in an $8.5 million redevelopment project in downtown Downers Grove is scheduled to kick off Monday.
The Village Council last week awarded a $3.6 million contract to Martam Construction of Elgin to proceed with the planned improvements along Curtiss Street between Washington Street and Forest Avenue, and along Forest between Curtiss and Franklin Street.
Improvements are to be completed in sections, with work to replace water mains, sanitary sewers and storm sewers set to begin on Monday along Curtiss between Main and Washington Streets. That stretch of the road is expected to be closed until June.
Streetscape construction will follow underground utility work and will include the installation of new sidewalks, curbs and pavement, along with the addition of decorative lighting and plantings in the area.
