A plan to guide New Lenox officials in their pursuit of economic development was reviewed recently by the Village Board.

Randall Lowman, economic development director, said the document is to be “used as a model or a framework. It’s an in-house working document,” he said.

One of the goals is to update the advertising, brochures and fact sheets given out to commercial and industrial developers, Lowman said.

Other actions include putting together an inventory of suitable sites for commerce and industry and establishing a network of elected officials, real estate brokers, financial institutions, developers, utility companies and economic development professionals.

Publishing economic development newsletters and keeping village officials and business people informed about the progress of development efforts are also important components of the effort, officials said.
