A volunteer fundraising group has raised $500,000 for Lincoln-Way High School since the group’s founding five years ago, the school board has learned.

Janet Caschetta, president of the Lincoln-Way High School Foundation for Educational Excellence, announced the total after presenting the group’s final contribution for 1999, a check for $57,100.
The donation will buy $15,000 worth of books for the East Campus library, a portable computer cluster consisting of 11 laptops and a portable projection system.
The foundation will embark on its next fundraising project, selling memorial bricks in the new Central Campus auditorium, on Feb. 1, said Stacy Holland, director of community relations.
The foundation hopes to sell at least 500 of the $100 bricks to be inscribed with the names of the donors, Holland said.
