Sherry Wagner and the Mother McAuley girls basketball team knew they earned every point Saturday afternoon.
Wagner scored 23 points and hit clutch free throws as the 10th-ranked Mighty Macs defeated host Regina 70-69 in triple overtime of a GCAC Red battle. Wagner made two free throws with 24 seconds remaining in the second overtime to force the third overtime. McAuley (15-2, 5-0) then outscored Regina 4-3 in the final extra session to clinch the victory.
“Regina played tough defense,” Wagner said. “We had to keep ourselves moving and work to get ourselves open.”
Regina’s man-to-man defense stifled McAuley in the fourth quarter, outscoring McAuley 11-4 to force a 47-47 tie after regulation.
“I’m more relieved than ecstatic for winning a triple OT game on the road to beat an up-and-coming conference team,” McAuley coach Rick Mundo said.
Lauren Levine added 16 points for McAuley. Brittany Becker led Regina (10-7, 3-2) with 14 points.
Fenwick 77, Maria 49: Freshman Erin Lawless tallied 23 points and 14 rebounds as the top-ranked Friars (16-0) rolled. Katie O’Grady added 16 points for Fenwick. Lanniece Thomas led Maria (9-11) with 19 points.
Hinsdale Central 47, Lyons 27: Julie Cohen scored all 12 of her points in the first half as the No. 4 Red Devils (18-0, 7-0) rolled in the West Suburban Silver.
Stevenson 62, Mundelein 35: Jenni Dant scored 14 points as the No. 6 Patriots (16-2, 8-0) won in the North Suburban.
Evanston 83, Queen of Peace 46: No. 9 Evanston outscored Queen of Peace 47-15 in the second half to win going away. Danielle McKinley led Evanston (16-2) with 37 points.
Benet 50, Carmel 32: Jenny Callan scored 17 points as No. 11 Benet (15-2, 4-0) cruised in the East Suburban Catholic for its 13th straight. Kelly Bacehowski’s 16 points led Carmel (12-6, 2-2).

Romeoville 70, Mt. Assisi 42: Tiffany Crutcher’s 21 points and nine rebounds paced the No. 13 Spartans (16-1). Cherise Mister added 12 points and five rebounds for Romeoville. Megan Pierucci had 15 points and seven rebounds for Mt. Assisi (6-8).
Chicago Christian 60, Luther North 40: Laura Groen scored 17 points and Taylor Brandau added 15 to lead Chicago Christian (7-9, 3-4) in the Private School League.
Glenbard North 58, Wheaton North 45: Cheryl Beth scored 18 points for the Panthers (14-3, 4-1) in the DuPage Valley.
Homewood-Flossmoor 59, Marian Catholic 58: GinaSantostefano hit a game-winning 12-foot jumper to lift the Vikings in the non-conference game. Jesse Dullard scored 19 points. Kandyce Green led Marian Catholic (8-7) with 25 points.
Illiana Christian 53, Walther Lutheran 20: Jessica Eenigenberg had 14 points as Illiana (9-7, 6-1) rolled in the Private School League.
Libertyville 70, Zion-Benton 22: Libertyville closed the first quarter with a 13-3 run and never looked back in the North Suburban contest. Lizzie Aldridge and Aubrey Smith each scored 11 points to lift Libertyville (12-4, 5-0).
Lockport 48, Joliet Catholic 27: Latoya Campbell scored 15 points to lead Lockport (10-7) in the non-conference matchup.
McHenry 47, C.L. South 33: Cassie Horgan’s 18 points carried the Warriors (10-6, 5-3) in the Fox Valley.
Nazareth 81, Luther South 52: Mandy Lindwall scored 24 points as Nazareth (12-6, 6-1) prevailed in the Private School League.
Prospect 79, Addison Trail 36: Rachel Theodore scored 14 points as the Knights (12-4) rolled in non-conference play.
Proviso East 42, Morton 33: Noelle Robinson scored 15 points to pace Proviso East (10-7, 3-4) in the West Suburban Gold.
St. Francis de Sales 65, Bogan 39: The Pioneers (15-3) rolled behind Roberta Hooper’s 18 points.

Trinity 63, Mother Guerin 41: Kim Barber tallied 23 points, 17 rebounds and five blocks as Trinity (5-12, 2-1) rolled in the GCAC White. Kristen Mulchrone added 14 points and eight rebounds for the winners.
West Chicago 50, Glenbard East 29: Beth Brinn scored 18 points for West Chicago (12-7, 4-2) in the DuPage Valley victory.
Wheaton Warrenville South 57, West Aurora 38: Joanna Dietz scored 14 points and Sarah Baumgartner had 13 points as the Tigers (13-3, 4-1) won in the DuPage Valley. Jackie Shook tallied 22 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks for West Aurora (12-5, 3-2).
Woodlands 50, St. Scholastica 45: Kate Fuhrman scored 21 points as Woodlands (6-7) prevailed in the non-conference matchup.
