player ready...Tollway officials have opened a fourth lane on the northbound Tri-State Tollway between Deerfield and Half Day Roads.
The lane opening is part of the $43 million roadway reconstruction that began in April 1998 to eliminate the Deerfield Toll Plaza.
On a less encouraging note, the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority is estimating it could take up to five months to repair a bridge support of the Illinois Highway 60 overpass in the southbound lane of the tollway that was damaged Monday when it was struck by a dump truck. The damage forced the closing of the outside lane of westbound Illinois 60.
Illinois State Police said a five-axle dump truck was traveling southbound when the body of the truck started to go up, hitting the north side of the bridge.
An initial assessment indicates the damage could take up to five months to repair, during which time the outside lane for westbound traffic over the tollway will remain closed.
Tollway spokeswoman Jan Kemp said the beam must be replaced.
Repairs are expected to begin in February or March.
