A 39-year-old Evanston man was being held on $500,000 bond in Lake County Jail Monday after being charged with stealing more than 50 cellular phones worth $9,000 from a Lincolnshire business, police said.

Gregory Randolph, a warehouse manager for a wholesaler of cellular phones on Knightsbridge Parkway, was charged with four counts of felony theft Wednesday after he was caught on surveillance tape stealing phones from the warehouse on Nov. 5 and 10, said Lincolnshire Police Detective Greg Duffey.

Lincolnshire police were contacted by the business earlier this month after company managers noticed that inventory was missing and needed help identifying who was responsible, Duffey said.

After his arrest, Randolph, of the 1200 block of McDaniel Street in Evanston, reportedly admitted to police that he had stolen more than 50 phones, Duffey said. Randolph, who told police he acted alone, said he sold the phones in Chicago, Duffey said.

Randolph was charged with one count of felony theft for each day he was caught stealing on tape and two additional counts of felony theft because of a similar conviction in the past, Duffey said.
