Last chance: Perhaps Lothar Mattheaus knows what he’s getting into. The latest savior for the MetroStars hinted that he may ask his new employers if he can delay is arrival. His German club, Bayern Munich, will play a vital Champions League match March 8 against Real Madrid and will be without key players due to injury and suspension. Mattheaus would like to play in that match for Munich and then join MLS. He is scheduled to join the MetroStars in January. Maybe Mattheaus knows it will likely be the last meaningful match he plays in his career.
