Teachers in Geneva School District 101 recently learned that most of the items on a long wish list of new educational tools will be funded by the Geneva Academic Foundation.

“It’s very cool to be able to do this,” said Martha Scatterday, president of the 12-year-old foundation.

“It’s a neat opportunity, and the teachers are so creative putting together their thoughts into well-written proposals,” she said, “and we feel confident that we were able to touch every student in the school system in some way this year.”

The $68,648 in grants awarded by the foundation will fulfill 16 requests made by the district’s social studies, art, English, music, mathematics and special-education teachers.

Most of the funds will be directed toward technology enhancements, including specialized digital cameras, laser printers, and graphic, illustrator and publishing programs and portable printers.
